It just wasn’t to be the Woods night. The bragging rights belong to Uxbridge, both teams capitulating to identical scores of 0-2. As far as the Reserves were concerned a very fair result. In a first half where both teams were like boxers, sizing each other up, but it was a completely different game in the second half.
The first chance fell to Sam Phillips on 10 minutes, but he headed wide from a corner. The next action saw Mark Britt make a fine save to deny the Uxbridge centre forward and two minutes later a good run by Andy Murphy saw Nick Fearon just unable to convert the cross.
A couple of good runs from full back Timmy Salako ended with his shots going wide, and this brought the half to an end. However in the second half the Woods kept giving the ball away, letting Uxbridge get on top and it was no surprise when they went ahead.
They visitors scored twice in a matter of ten minutes and the goals were identical. The Woods midfield gave away possession to easily on the right, Uxbridge moved the ball slickly to their right and the No. 11 and No.14 both drove their shots into the far corner to get the goals.
The Woods had a chance to halve the deficit, but after an almighty goalmouth scramble, Uxbridge cleared the danger. It is now six games without a win for the reserves, and a big improvement is needed against Tooting on Saturday to get back on the winning track.
